Co Adventurers welcomes Dave Oxenham to increase outdoor learning for children in Devon

Co Adventurers offers various outdoor learning activities for children across Devon including the Forest School and outdoor adventurers. We are pleased to confirm that Dave Oxenham will join our team, bringing a wider range of adventures including caving, climbing and canoeing

Dave has worked with a range of people with various abilities including individuals or groups with a disability or additional needs. He has a patient, fund-loving demeanour which enables him to build a rapport with participants, to gain their trust and build up their confidence.

Dave started his career in outdoor learning at the Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre in Exeter and has taken children across Devon on all kinds of adventures. "In 2014 I started working with an amazing 14-year-old girl with Downs Syndrome," he says. "She had never been in a boat before and her ability and confidence grew massively each week. She is now 22 and I've loved working with her over the past eight years!

"Seeing her flourish in an environment where often individuals with additional needs can get overlooked, has inspired me to facilitate outdoor adventures for others, ensuring nobody is missed out. We've paddled, climbed, built dens, lit fires and cycled. Through these facets of outdoor learning she has made close friendships and come to realise that her disability doesn't have to be a barrier. So I am pleased to be a part of the Co Adventurers team, helping more young people to navigate, survive and thrive!"
